Hello, I'm Alison Shibata, the artist behind Bliss Miniatures. I'm also a daughter, wife, mom of three (all grown), and member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA). I've worked as a flight attendant, hotel assistant manager, paralegal and owner/baker of a cookie business, the last being the most challenging and rewarding experience of my eclectic resume...until now.
I have been enchanted by dollhouse miniatures for more than 30 years and a miniaturist specializing in one-inch scale polymer clay food since December 2009. The desire to make miniatures has always been stronger than collecting them. But until recently, between my family and working lives, there wasn't enough time or energy left in the day to pursue anything that required artistry.
When my youngest was about to graduate from high school, there was finally an opportunity to replace work with miniatures. The decision was a no-brainer. Armed with new supplies and a desire to learn at warp speed, I dove into the art of handmade miniatures. In January 2010, I opened the doors to Bliss Miniatures at Etsy.com, and in July 2011, here at my home site.
In May 2012, I was honored to be recognized as an IGMA Artisan.
